Hang the bachelor (A poem)

gigi

Dear child, hear me say

Words to keep you at bay

Protect your glass throne

Hide your slippers away

Leave room to the betrothed

And make sure he’s there to stay

You’re deserving of stability

My command is yours to carry

Bear my wish for your fertility

Let him pop your cherry

Raise the next generation

That’s your duty as a mother

Give me legacy, it’s our tradition

Else you’ll be seen as a bother

Don’t go against the stream

You’re born to please

My child, don’t dare to dream

They’re only for men to seize

Don’t defy my lead

Don’t bring shame with your celibate name

You’re here to breed

So, let’s not play this game
